Jordan Andrade to hang up boots

Rochdale Hornets forward Jordan Andrade has confirmed his intention to retire from rugby league following the conclusion of the 2026 season.

The front-rower, who has also represented the Jamaica national team eight times, will hang up his boots following a career in the professional game which has spanned more than a decade.

Andrade first arrived at the Hornets ahead of the 2024 season and has gone on to make 58 competitive appearances for the club, scoring 17 tries. 

A cornerstone of the Hornets forward pack for the last three years, the 34-year-old will be remembered fondly by all of his former coaches and team-mates, and will rightly be regarded as a fan favourite.

We wish Jordan and his family well as he embarks on life after rugby league. 

“After 12 years, it’s finally time to call it a day,” he said.

“I have mixed emotions about finishing as it’s all I've known for so long, but now I think the time is right for the next stage of life. 

“Breaking my arm earlier on in the year and struggling with that since, and also some changes in my personal life have helped make this decision. It’s not one that was easy, but it’s one that was right. 

“I just want to thank everyone at Rochdale Hornets, from the staff to the supporters, for the last three years.

“It’s a club where I’ve felt most at home in my career, and have really enjoyed it. 

“Now moving forward, I’m excited about what's next after rugby. I will still be down to support the boys when I’m free - up the hornets!”

Rochdale Hornets chairman Andy Mazey said: “From the moment that Jordan Andrade walked through the door to our club, he has been a pleasure to deal with. 

“He’s a big man with a big personality, and I know just how much he has enjoyed his time at our club. 

“We wish him and his family all the very best for the future.”
