ROCHDALE Hornets is recruiting for a number of weekday and match day positions. There is wide ranging number of positions that need to be filled which require a variety of skillsets.

Retail Assistant

Rochdale Hornets is recruiting for a Retail Assistant on a match day based at the Crown Oil Arena reporting directly to the CEO.

The successful candidate will manage the day-to-day running of the retail operation for carrying out essential tasks within the store whilst providing excellent customer service.

Working hours: 4-6 hours per match-day working EVERY home match [including evening, weekend and bank-holidays].

You will:

  • Assist fans instore whilst providing information on what’s available.
  • Enhance and maintain the brand and reputation of Rochdale Hornets by providing outstanding customer service.
  • Identify upselling opportunities with an in-depth knowledge of merchandise.
  • Ensure the Hornets store is fully stocked with Hornets merchandise, maintaining a clean and spacious shop floor.
  • Liaise with the Supro Sports Management team to carry out tasks before, during and after a match.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service at all times via all platforms.
  • Be confident and prepared to offer alternative options to possible out of stock items.
  • Ensure all monies are handled with the upmost accuracy and honesty.
  • Be aware of upcoming fixtures and events to be able to inform fans and increase footfall for future events.
  • Provide ideas and initiatives to enhance the fan experience when visiting the shop.
  • Work confidently within a busy and fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain clean and effective displays in and around the shop.
  • Be confident in using a till system [full training will be provided] and cash handling.
  • Be confident and able to use shirt-printing machinery [full training will be provided]
  • Ensure all customer data is protected in line with GDPR regulations at all times.

The successful candidate will have:

  • GCSE A-C Maths and English or equivalent.
  • Previous experience of working in a customer facing role. 
  • Strong numerical and literacy skills.
  • The ability to work as part of a team.
  • Full knowledge of the Microsoft Word package.
  • The ability to work under pressure and work towards deadlines on a daily basis.
  • The ability and willingness to engage with customers offering help and guidance.
  • The ability to use own initiative to maintain a high level of fan experience and service.
  • Proven oral and written communication skills.
  • The ability to work towards financial targets.
  • Excellent customer service qualities.
  • Willingness to undertake training.
  • Flexibility to work in in different roles and circumstances depending on event
  • The ability to work flexibly, working evenings, weekends and bank holidays [match days included]

Club Mascot

The purpose of the role is to proactively engage with supporters; making people smile with your energy and passion. Ensuring supporters leave remembering a remarkable day.

Working hours: 4-6 hours per match-day working EVERY home match [including evening, weekend and bank-holidays].

You will:

  • Have experience of working with children, ideally within a performance’ type role.
  • Be available to work all home games [between 4-6 hours per match]
  • Be the spirit of the team and have the ability to engage with fans of all ages.
  • Act as a Hornets ambassador meeting and greeting fans.
  • Entertain supporters pre-match and during half-time.

The successful candidate will:

  • Experience of working with children.
  • Be confident in engaging with supporters of all ages and backgrounds positively and proactively.
  • Have confidence in performing to a public audience.
  • Be reliable and committed to working all home fixtures.
  • Have the ability to work unsupervised, using your own initiative.

Match day assistant x4 - Voluntary

We take our game-day preparation very seriously and are one of the best in the business. As part of the team you will help set up for game day. This includes, the hospitality areas as well as the on field spaces. Theres always loads to do and anyone interested in wroking with the club and foundation will certainly get a lot of satisfaction from this role. Did we mention the free kit.

Match day sellers - (Commission based)

We take our gameday preparation very seriously and are one of the best in the business. As part of the team you will sell our programmes, half time draw, raffel tickets and promotional items.

Match day ball boys and girls (Aged 10 plus)
