Hornets travel to Dewsbury for their Third Round Betfred Challenge Cup tie.

Rochdale Hornets face fellow league one side Dewsbury in the Third Round of the Betfred Challenge Cup this weekend, in a game being played at the FLAIR Stadium, in a 2pm kick-off.

Hornets will be aiming to make it through to the Fourth Round, for two consecutive years, but will face a tough test against recently relegated Dewsbury.

DEWSBURY RAMS

Dewsbury come into this game having won all their competitive games of 2023 so far, beating both North Wales and Midlands, while defeating Ashton in the Challenge Cup.

They were 40 point victors over the Hurricanes in their last league game, beating the Birmingham-based side 50-10. 

They have began the season in great form having been relegated from the Betfred Championship last year.

Dewsbury go into this Round Three tie, where they will be playing the Hornets in front of their home fans in a game they'll be hoping to win given both teams are favourites to be high finishers in League One.

ROCHDALE HORNETS

Hornets have had mixed results so far, beating London Skolars in the Challenge Cup, but were narrow losers to Doncaster in their opening game of the league campaign. 

It would be a huge feat for the Hornets to make the Fourth Round, especially given the fact they would have beat a side who are tipped to be promotion favourites from league one.

Ben O'Keefe and Cian Tyrer were the only try scorers in Rochdale's last game, two players the Hornets will rely on in attack this Sunday.

HEAD TO HEAD

Hornets last faced the Rams in 2019, where Dewsbury won 32-12. In the same season, the Rams won 66-10 but before that Rochdale won two on the bounce in 2018 by scores of 26-22 and 32-27.
