Challenge Cup game takes priority

Rochdale Hornets can confirm that their scheduled League 1 round one fixture to be played this Sunday 16th February vs Coventry Bears has now been postponed by the Rugby Football League. The match will be now rescheduled and played at the Butts Park Arena later in the season and supporters will be advised as soon as possible. 

The Challenge Cup game vs York Acorn will now be played this weekend on the 15th/16th, but as yet details remain unconfirmed. 

Hornets CEO Steve Kerr said: "We are still assessing the viability of playing at Spotland, which took a huge amount of water over the weekend. We are trying to avoid scheduling a game that has a high risk of further postponement. The pitch isn't in the best condition following the weekend and we are working closely with Rochdale AFC to find a solution. 

"Id ask that fans stay patient whilst we look at our options, having only just been informed by the RFL that we now need to host a game at short notice."

The club will confirm further details as soon as possible.
