Lewis Else: 'We have got to put in a performance for the fans'

Rochdale half-back Lewis Else has vowed for Hornets to put in a performance for the fans when they host Workington Town on Sunday.
Rochdale were beaten 56-16 by neighbours Oldham at the Vestacare Stadium on Good Friday, as the Roughyeds continued their unbeaten start to the season.
Else crossed for his second try of the season in the defeat, along with Jack Arnold and Brad Holroyd, who was brought in from Widnes Vikings on a two-week loan as part of the club's dual-registration agreement with the Championship side.
Former Widnes back Else, who was part of Swinton Lions' promotion squad last season, admitted the defeat at Oldham 'hurt' the squad.
“Reflecting on the Oldham game we are all disappointed as we didn’t show our potential," he said.
“We started slowly and after that Oldham never let us get back into the match. It hurt more because it was a derby, but we know there’s more in our game and that as a team we are better than what we showed.”
Hornets have endured a tough start to the season, which has seen losses against Dewsbury Rams, Doncaster and Oldham - the top three in the table.
Rochdale will be aiming to return to winning ways when they face Workington Town – who were relegated from the Championship last season - at the Crown Oil Arena on Sunday, as the Cumbrian outfit look to continue their strong to the campaign.
Workington have only lost once this season, and despite only having two points to their name, Else is hopeful Hornets can put recent performances behind them to get the win.
“We are training hard, staying positive and sticking together as we know what needs to be done to improve,” Else said.
“Workington will be another tough game but we have got to put in a performance for the club and especially for the fans as we are in front of them.
"It’s important we bounce back with a good performance so we can focus on building momentum and stringing together wins which we know we are more than capable of doing.
Else arrived at the club in November, and the back has already made an impact scoring twice so far.
The former Wigan St Pats junior is hoping to improve his personal performances, and help Rochdale start an ascent up the League 1 table.
Else said: “My personal performances can be a lot better. The lads and staff have been class, and we are a tightknit group.
“My aim for the rest of the season is to consistently put some performances so we can start to climb the table and give the fans something to cheer about.”
