Forster re-joins Hornets on two-week loan from Halifax

Rochdale Hornets is delighted to announce Ben Forster has re-joined the club on an initial two-week loan from Halifax Panthers.
Forster, who departed Hornets for Halifax in November, is yet to make a league appearance for the Championship side, who he signed for until the end of 2023.
The 21-year-old, who was promoted to the Rochdale first team alongside winger Dan Nixon from Hopwood Hall College, signed for fellow Championship side Swinton on an initial two-week loan last month – however, he was not included in Lions’ final 17-man squad against London Broncos.
The forward made 37 appearances for Hornets over two seasons, and he scored his final try for the club against tomorrow's opponents Oldham in our 38-24 Elimination Play-Off win.
Speaking on his excitement of re-joining Hornets, Forster said: “The move came about due to wanting game time and to test fitness as I’ve been training with Halifax since November.
“I’ve kept in contact with a few of the lads and when Gaz [Gary Thornton, head coach] contacted me about playing it felt like a great opportunity as the next games are massive for Rochdale.”
Rochdale Hornets chairman Andy Mazey has also expressed his delight in welcoming a fans favourite back to the club.
“It’s really pleasing to see Ben return to the club and link up with us for some valuable game time,” he said.
“Ben is a player we have taken great pride in seeing develop via the Hopwood Hornets Academy and with our first team over the past few years.
“He’s loved by our fans so I’m sure they will be delighted with this news.”
Forster is available for selection in tomorrow’s derby day clash with Oldham at the Vestacare Stadium, and he has been included in Thornton's initial 21-man squad.
Supporters have been advised by Oldham to purchase tickets online in advance, to save any disappointment of tickets not being available on the gate – they can be bought online here.
Admission prices are as follows: £16 for adults, £10 for concessions, £5 for students and free for under-16's.
Please note, the match will kick-off at 7:30pm and not the original time of 3pm – this is avoid a timing clash with Oldham Athletic, who take on Altrincham at Boundary Park.
