Pete Hird announced as wheelchair head coach

Rochdale Hornets are delighted to announce the appointment of Pete Hird as our wheelchair team head coach.

Pete, who has experience in wheelchair rugby union, joins from the community game where he is a Level 2 qualified coach and has worked at committee level to drive forward the development of various aspects of community club rugby league.

Hornets director of development Jason Seddon, has labelled the appointment of Pete as a 'positive step' for the team. 

He said: "Pete's ability as a coach and his understanding of the community game - outside of coaching - will be an invaluable asset in the development of our wheelchair team moving forward."

Hornets are also pleased to confirm that current wheelchair team member Steve Scott will join Pete as assistant coach.

“Steve is a really enthusiastic and knowledgeable member of the team, who wants to develop himself and take the step into coaching," Jason said.

"We are happy to support Steve in gaining his qualifications and working alongside Pete he will form the new look coaching team."
