Hornets add Jack Arnold to the pack

Rochdale Hornets is delighted to announce the signing of powerful forward Jack Arnold, for the 2023 campaign.

Arnold, who can play either as a prop or in the second row, started the 2022 season at nearby Oldham but joins the likes of Dave Hewitt and Will Cooke in making the short trip across the border, to play his rugby.

Like Cooke, the 25-year-old has also spent time at current League 1 Champions Keighley Cougars where he impressed Rhys Lovegrove with his direct, aggressive, style of play and Hornets head coach Gary Thornton is expecting more of the same.

He said: “Jack is an experienced front rower and will complement our young squad really well as he’s aggressive, in both attack and defence, and will get us in the front foot with his strong carries.

“He’s a tough and robust middle unit player and a fantastic addition to our group.”

Chairman Andy Mazey echoed Thornton’s praise for Arnold, after securing the services of the former Upton ALRFC man.

“Jack is a big aggressive middle unit that has always put himself about when I’ve seen him play against Hornets, so it’s great to have him with us rather than against us in 2023.

“He’s an experienced campaigner at the top end of League 1 and I’m sure he will be a great addition to Gary’s new look pack.”
