Russell Homes to sponsor Rochdale Hornets Sporting Foundation

Housebuilder commits to continued support for community activities

Rochdale Hornets is delighted to announce that Russell Homes has agreed to a new partnership with the club and the Rochdale Hornets Sporting Foundation.

The two-year deal sees the award-winning house builder extend its existing sponsorship to four years in total, and continue its commitment as a key partner in supporting the ambitions of the club and its community foundation.

The partnership will help provide extra support for the club’s mission of getting more people playing rugby league more often, with a specific focus on supporting young people to return to play and training.

Hornets CEO Steve Kerr said: “The Foundation has some exciting plans for bringing sport back to the community and we are very pleased to have support from Russell Homes for another two years. This will help us to share our wonderful game of rugby league with yet more people, and make a real positive impact on the lives of children in the Rochdale Borough and surrounding areas.

“The pandemic has had such a huge impact on the ability of people to take part in any kind of group fitness, which is likely to have had a detrimental effect on their health and their social interaction. Our Foundation’s initiatives will be working hard to tackle those issues.

“We’re looking forward to relaunching our exciting programme of activities for children and young people this Easter. This partnership with Russell Homes allows us to hit the ground running, getting everyone back on the playing field as quickly as possible now that restrictions are easing.”

Andrew Russell, joint managing director of Russell Homes, said: “We’re delighted to announce our commitment to the Rochdale Hornets Foundation Programme for the next two years.

“The range and impact of the community activities the club undertakes are so important on so many levels for helping to improve health, wellbeing and social interaction of people of all ages.

“This will be more crucial than ever as the borough starts to emerge from Covid restrictions, and will be instrumental in helping to bring people together after such a long time apart.

“As a responsible housebuilder, one of our key principles is the investment we make in the communities in which we work. It’s not just about responsible sourcing of local labour and supplies, but about putting something back directly into those communities via genuinely meaningful programmes such as this.

“We’re very proud to be supporting with such a fantastic grass roots initiative."

The Rochdale Hornets Sporting Foundation programme kicks off with FREE Sports Camps this Easter at Rochdale Mayfield, with the camp reaching full capacity just a few days after launch.
