New supporters association issues rallying Rochdale Hornets call

All Hornets is urging Hornets fans to help back the club!

Newly formed supporters association All Hornets has urged everybody connected with Rochdale Hornets to unite behind the club in its 150th anniversary year.

All Hornets has been launched to bring together everyone that has had an association with the club, which was formed in 1871.

After an encouraging early uptake of memberships, it is now hoped more fans will get behind the initiative to help the club through one of the most difficult periods in its history, as all of rugby league continues to recover from the effects of the global pandemic.

An All Hornets interim committee has been formed led by interim chairman Mark Harris, an established sponsor, supporter, and former director of the club. Mark is supported by vice chairman Kevin Tatlock, another long time supporter and sponsor of the club. Mark believes All Hornets has an integral role to play in the club moving forward.

Mark said: “COVID-19 has had a huge impact on every single rugby league club - Rochdale Hornets is no different and as supporters our main objective is to do everything, we can to back the club as it looks to move forward into an exciting new era.

“The initial membership take-up in a short period of time has shown that fans are willing to come together, with over 60 members so far. When the club was supporter-owned the membership was around 150 and our next target is moving towards that.

“We have also established a junior section of All Hornets because we firmly believe in attracting young new fans to the club to help secure its long-term future. Junior members will gain free admission to all home games and watch this space for more information on some exciting new benefits for our junior members.

“We have a Squad Builder scheme that goes directly towards strengthening coach Matt Calland’s team, which at present brings in £5,000 a year. We would like to start by doubling that to help boost the squad for this year’s Betfred League 1 campaign.

“It’s another way to support Rochdale Hornets in what is an historic year for the club, and a crucial one on and off the field. Fans can also continue to buy season tickets for the club, which allow them to watch any matches behind closed door on live streams for free, and purchase some of the superb range of merchandise available.

“It’s been a difficult year for everybody, but this can also be an exciting next chapter in the club’s rich history if we all come together.”

Annual membership of All Hornets costs just £18.71 for adults and £9.95 for juniors. Members also have the choice to contribute to the Squad Builder scheme to aid Matt Calland in strengthening his squad start at £5 a month.
