A statement from the board
Rochdale Hornets board statement
Rochdale Hornets’ new board of directors has met for the first time and outlined its plans in the long and short term.
A six-person board was elected at Saturday’s AGM comprising of Denise Dawson, Ray Dutton, Martin Hall, Mark Harris, Gavin Reynolds and Peter Rush.
At a meeting on Tuesday night it was decided that Peter Rush will remain as chair with Denise Dawson as vice chair, with all board roles and responsibilities reviewed at the end of the current season in September.
A statement from the new board reads: “At the top of our agenda has been discussing ways of moving forward from events at the AGM and speaking to members of the club about the best way to do that.
“The ethos of this board is absolutely to pull everybody that has an association with Rochdale Hornets in the same direction, from the coaching staff and players to members, supporters and sponsors.
“What happens off the field can often be reflected on it, and with that in mind we aim to create the best environment possible for the team to be successful.
“Planning for the 2020 season begins immediately so that we get a head start on being as competitive as possible next year.
“We would also like to pay tribute to chief executive Steve Kerr on the sound financial reports for the year ending November 2018 that were presented at the AGM, and to thank Rochdale Mayfield for their considerable help in staging the match against Swinton Lions on Sunday June 30.
“In addition, talks are ongoing with Rochdale AFC aiming to arrive at a suitable compensation agreement for recent cancellations.
“Now we look forward to returning to the Crown Oil Arena to face Toulouse this Saturday, kick-off 3pm, and hope for a strong vocal crowd to get behind the team.”
