The Good Friday game against Oldham Roughyeds saw the first of a series of curtain raisers to be held this season. Over 50 children from clubs in Oldham and Rochdale took part in two gruelling encounters.

Rochdale club Milnrow Cobras took on Higginshaw under 9s whilst at the under 10s Rochdale's Mayfield Mustangs played Oldham St Annes. 

Both games saw some organised rugby with many tries being scored from set plays and some great defencive efforts were displayed.

Community Development Officer Terri Davey commented "Many thanks to the coaches from each of the teams who have taken the time to make the curtain raisers possible. The day was a huge success it was great to see so many supporters cheering on our community clubs!"
