Rochdale Hornets

11th January 2019, 21:10

TODAY’S scheduled pre-season friendly against Rochdale Mayfield has been moved to Mayfield Sports Centre and ticket prices have been slashed.

Due to unforeseen issues with equipment at the Crown Oil Arena, both clubs have agreed to switch the venue.

Admission prices have been reduced to £10 for both adults and concessions while kids still go free. Anyone who has pre-purchased tickets can present their stub at the Hornets office from Monday to be refunded the difference.

Those who have purchased hospitality will still be catered for in the lounge at Mayfield.

Hornets CEO Steve Kerr said: “First and foremost we are incredibly grateful to Mayfield for accommodating the switch at the eleventh hour.

“Where it would have perhaps been easier to postpone, or even cancel the fixture, the club has worked with Mayfield’s chairman, Simon Howe, and the Mayfield club to ensure this game goes ahead in what will be an exciting day for rugby league in the borough.

“We are disappointed it has come to this but a problem with the posts and their sockets came to light this evening while preparing for tomorrow’s game. We have worked tirelessly to rectify this issue along with colleagues from Rochdale AFC, but sadly time got away from us. I would like to thank them for their efforts in trying to find us a solution to this problem.

“We apologies unreservedly to those who were looking forward to visiting the Crown Oil Arena.”

Supporters are encouraged to spread the word and inform those who may not routinely check the website and social media of the change of venue.

Turnstiles will be open from 2.00pm and will be CASH ONLY.

Car parking is available at the ground and there is overspill parking available at the community center. Supporters are reminded to park considerately and respectifully in streets around the ground.
