LEIGH CLASH BROUGHT FORWARD
The game will now be played on Saturday at 5.00pm
ROCHDALE Hornets’ scheduled Betfred Championship with Leigh Centurions has been brought forward to Saturday, July 14 at 5.00pm.
The agreement has been reached between the two clubs to avoid clashing with the FIFA World Cup final on Sunday (3.00pm).
As it looked increasingly likely that England could well feature in the final, a number of supporters from both clubs voiced concerns over a potential clash.
Hornets CEO Steve Kerr said: “I’m pleased we are able to agree a compromise to accommodate all our fans who wish to watch their rugby league team and the World Cup final. There’s now a lot of work to do to be ready for the biggest game in our calendar but making the change early allows fans to put plans in place.
"It is going to be a cracking weekend of sport! We apologise for any inconvenience caused but I thank supporters for their patience and hope they come out and support the lads on Saturday.”
