Rochdale Hornets have added Callum Mulkeen to their squad following a successful trial, with the second rower wearing the number 25 shirt.

Rochdale Hornets can confirm that Callum Mulkeen has completed a successful trial with the club, and has signed a permanent deal.

After featuring 18 times for North Wales Crusaders last season the second rower, who can also fill in at centre, joined Alan Kilshaw’s men for pre-season.

His work rate and versatility has impressed the Hornets boss, as he rewarded his hard work with a permanent contract.

“Callum has impressed us since pre-season,” commented Kilshaw.

“He can play a number of positions but he is most comfortable playing in the middle. We see him developing under us and we’re delighted to give him an opportunity.”

Mulkeen scored five times last year for Crusaders, and previously had two successful spells with Gloucestershire All Golds.

He featured 39 times across the 2013 and 2015 seasons, scoring 16 tries, as he spent 2014 with Oxford where he crossed the whitewash five times in 17 appearances.

He will wear the number 25 shirt for the Hornets during the 2018 season.
