The annual Law Cup fixture returns on January 7

ROCHDALE Hornets will open their pre-season campaign against Oldham at the Crown Oil Arena on Sunday, January 7, as the two sides go head-to-head in the traditional Law Cup clash.

Alan Kilshaw’s side will welcome Oldham for the only planned fixture between the two clubs in 2018 as the hosts look to keep hold of the cup after last year’s 12-24 win at Bower Fold.

Killer said: "Games like this can never be classed as a friendly and we are eager to retain the Law Cup. It will be a good test for both sides and it's great to continue the rivalry that has thrived in the last few years. There will be familiar faces for both sets of fans and it's sure to be a great spectacle.

"Pre-season matches like the Law Cup are good for preparation and it will be our first hit out of 2018 and we're looking forward to showing the supporters what we have been practicing over the winter."

Hornets CEO Steve Kerr added: “It’s the game the fans want to see and we’re pleased to get it on at the Crown Oil Arena in January. For the last few years the games have been really exciting so I know the supporters from both clubs will be in for a treat.

“Thanks to Chris Hamilton at Oldham who was helpful in getting this game on and working with us to set a date, I’m sure it will be a good test for both sides heading into their respective campaigns.

“There will be some great sponsorship packages available so get in touch with us to discuss what we can do for you and back the team as we head into 2018!”

Tickets can be purchased from the club shop at the stadium, which is open Monday to Friday, 10am-4pm and are priced at £15 adults, £10 concession and £5 juniors.
