HADDEN AND LEPORI PICK UP WORLD CUP CAPS
Rochdale Hornets duo feature in final round of group games in the World Cup in Australia.
Rochdale Hornets were represented in the final round of pool games in the 2017 Rugby League World Cup in Australia at the weekend.
Fan favourite Matty Hadden and newcomer Richard Lepori both featured for Ireland and Italy respectively, as their countries bowed out of the competition.
The Irish Wolfhounds will feel hard done by, as they picked up two victories from their three outings, with their only defeat coming at the hands of Papua New Guinea.
Hadden forced his way onto the bench for their final game, as they picked up a comfortable 34-6 triumph over Wales.
The Hornets front rower made 83 metres with his eight carries, and also pitched in with 13 tackles, not looking out of place in a team full of top flight experience.
He also came up against a familiar face in the Welsh side, with Gavin Bennion, now of Salford Red Devils, making his debut on the bench.
Lepori joined Rochdale during the off-season, before jetting off down under for the World Cup with the Italian squad.
He also ended the competition with an appearance, starting on the wing in a fiery encounter with Fiji in which his side fell to a 38-10 loss.
Both players will enjoy some time off before re-joining the club for pre-season training, and will bring their World Cup experience back to Rochdale with them.
